Spinrun

Spinrun vs n8n

n8n is a workflow automation tool for technical teams, self-hosted or on their cloud. Spinrun gives you AI agents that run on your own private machine, with no nodes to wire.

Last reviewed , against each product’s public pricing and docs.

The short answer

Pick n8n if you have engineers who want code nodes, Git and their own servers, and who will own the upgrades. Pick Spinrun if you want agents that do the job without anyone maintaining workflows or infrastructure. Spinrun includes the private machine your agents run on.

Choose n8n if

  • You need to run everything on your own infrastructure for free
  • Your team wants JavaScript or Python inside every workflow
  • You rely on Git-based version control for automations

Choose Spinrun if

  • Nobody on the team wants to own a server and its upgrades
  • The people who need the automation do not write expressions
  • You want agents that adapt instead of workflows that fail on edge cases
  • You want the whole team to see what the agents did, live

Side by side

Spinrun vs n8n at a glance.

n8n gives engineers workflows to build and host. Spinrun gives your team agents that answer leads and chase invoices, with nothing to host.

Setting it up
Wire nodes on a canvas, often with JSON expressions or code. The AI Workflow Builder can draft a first version.
Describe the job in plain words. The agent plans the steps and sets up its own schedule.
Hosting
Self-host it and own the upgrades, backups and uptime, or pay for n8n Cloud. The Business plan is self-hosted only.
Hosted for you on a private, isolated machine that is kept up to date.
A case it has not seen
The workflow follows its nodes. The AI Agent node only decides inside the step where you placed it.
The whole job is the agent’s: it reads each case, picks its tools and asks you when it is unsure.
While you are away
A review step pauses the workflow before the tool runs and waits on Slack, Gmail, Teams or n8n’s chat until someone answers.
With Autopilot on, Spinrun answers your agents within your rules, never for spending or deleting, and has a recap ready when you return.
What it remembers
Memory is a node you add, backed by a database you configure.
Memory, files and databases live on its machine, and each correction sticks.
What running it costs
n8n Cloud counts executions: 2,500 a month for €20 billed yearly on Starter, 10,000 for €50 on Pro. Self-hosting is free, the server is yours.
The machine is included. Spinrun does not count runs or steps.

Key differences

Where Spinrun and n8n part ways.

Four differences that change your day to day, shown on the real product.

No nodes, no expressions

Connect your stack

n8n workflows are graphs of nodes, often with JSON expressions or code, even when the AI Workflow Builder drafts them. A Spinrun agent gets the job in plain words, signs in to Gmail, Notion or Stripe, and reaches 3,000+ apps and any MCP server.

Hosted, isolated, maintained

Give it a machine

Self-hosting n8n means patching, backups and uptime, and its Business plan is self-hosted only, at €667 a month. n8n Cloud bills per execution instead. Spinrun gives your agents a private machine, your own isolated computer in the cloud where agents keep their files and databases, kept up to date for you.

Approvals that don’t wait for you

Set up approvals

n8n can pause an agent before a tool runs and wait on Slack, Gmail, Teams or its own chat until a person answers. Spinrun stops to ask in the app too, and with Autopilot on, the Foreman, the assistant that runs your agents, answers within your rules while you’re away, never for spending or deleting, then recaps the work and the hours it saved you.

FAQ

Spinrun vs n8n, your questions.

Is Spinrun an n8n alternative?

Yes, for teams that want the outcome without maintaining workflows. n8n suits engineers who like building graphs and hosting them. Spinrun agents take the goal in plain words and run on a machine that is maintained for you.

Can I self-host Spinrun like n8n?

Every workspace gets a private, isolated machine. For anything beyond that, talk to us at help@spinrun.ai.

How is Spinrun different from the n8n AI Agent node?

The n8n node is one step inside a workflow you design and host. A Spinrun agent is the whole worker: it plans the steps, keeps memory and files, runs on its own schedule and asks you before anything risky.

Does Spinrun bill per execution?

No. Spinrun does not count runs.

What happens when an agent needs an approval while I’m away?

It stops and asks, you get an email, and you answer in the app. You can also turn on Autopilot: while you are away, the Foreman, the assistant that runs your agents, answers their questions and approves routine actions within your rules. Spending money and deleting always wait for you, and every decision is logged.

Do I need to write code with Spinrun?

No. You describe the job, connect your apps and the agent sets itself up. Developers can still plug in any MCP server or API.
